Shirley Comerford was appointed as CEO of the Public Appointments Service in August 2018. PAS is the centralised provider of recruitment, selection and assessment services to the Civil Service, Local Authorities, Health Service Executive and other public bodies.
Shirley joined the Civil Service in 2012 as Head of Strategic Human Resources in the Department of Public Expenditure and Reform (DPER). Over the course of her career Shirley has successfully delivered innovative HR Strategies and transformational change programmes and is a champion of diversity and inclusion. During her time in the Public Appointments Service Shirley has enhanced PAS’ organisational commitment to diversity and inclusion by establishing an Equality, Diversity and Inclusion function and appointing a Lead at senior management level. Shirley has also overseen the development of the organisation’s first Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Strategy, which was launched last month by Minister Michael McGrath.
