Tara is the Chairperson of Matheson. She is also head of Matheson’s Asset Management and Investment Funds Department. It is the largest asset management group in Dublin with 12 partners and over 70 fee-earners advising Irish domiciled investment funds representing over 30% of the assets under management domiciled in Ireland. Matheson advises 7 of the top 10 global promoters of Irish funds, 8 of the top 10 US asset managers and the world’s 4 largest asset managers.
Tara was the first female head of an Irish asset management practice and Matheson’s first female Chairperson. Tara has served as chair of Matheson’s graduate recruitment programme since 2002 and was a member of the Matheson Management Committee from 2011 to 2020. She is also a member of Matheson’s Diversity and Inclusion Steering Committee and serves as a Matheson representative on the 30% Club Ireland Professional Services Firms Working Group.
Tara was named Europe’s Best in Investment Funds by Euromoney in 2016 and 2017. Tara was included in The Hedge Fund Journal’s 50 Leading Women in Hedge Funds in 2017 and was awarded Legal Adviser of the Year at the 2018 and 2019 Women in Finance Awards Ireland. Tara was honoured for Services to Law at the 2019 Irish Women’s Awards. Tara was named one of IFLR’s Women Leaders for 2018, 2019 and 2020.
Tara was elected to the Council of the Law Society of Ireland in November 2020. She serves on the Law Society’s Curriculum Development Unit and its Regulation of Practice Committee.
Tara is a member of the Trinity COVID-19 Law and Human Rights Observatory Advisory Group and a member of the Advisory Board of the Trinity Student Managed Fund.
Tara holds an LLB from Trinity College, Dublin and an LLM in International Business Law from the London School of Economics.
